The Canadian education landscape is at a crossroads.

Across Canada, families are becoming more intentional about the kind of academic support they choose for their children. The concern is no longer just about passing the next grade; it’s about whether a child is equipped with the skills of solving real-world problems and thinking power needed to navigate a rapidly changing world.

In PISA 2022, 22% of Canadian students did not reach the baseline level of mathematics proficiency, and in Ontario’s latest EQAO results, only 51% of Grade 6 students met the provincial standard. For many families, these numbers highlight a gap that traditional schooling is often constrained by rigid curriculum pacing struggles to fill. Parents are seeking an environment that not only rebuilds missing foundations but also removes the ceiling for students ready to soar, offering the advanced enrichment that standard classrooms often cannot provide.

The MathConcept Vision: Nurturing Thinkers, Not Just Test-Takers

Our founder, Alex, established MathConcept after observing an existential flaw in traditional supplemental education: heavy drills and rote memorization simply do not work for long-term growth. While repetitive practice might provide a short-term score boost, it often leaves students without the ability to apply math independently in the real world.

Alex believes that understanding concepts and logic is the door to more than just high marks; it is the door to empowerment. In a modern society filled with digital tools and instant answers,  math is no longer just a school subject, it is the underlying logic of our lives. By moving away from “black-and-box” formulas and toward curiosity-driven learning, we help students develop a genuine interest in how the world works.

Whether a student needs to find their confidence or is looking to explore math far beyond their grade level, our goal remains the same: to nurture thinkers, not just test-takers. As supplemental education becomes one of the smartest franchise categories in North America, MathConcept offers a clear path for partners who want to build a business that is as much about cognitive impact as it is about academic success.

A Proven Model of Continuous Growth

MathConcept is founded in 2012,  until now has served more than 90,000 students and grown to over 50 centers in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China. While many sectors faced uncertainty during the global pandemic, MathConcept recorded consistent growth throughout the pandemic period and has continued to thrive, now approaching 60 centers across Asia.

This steady upward trajectory highlights a fundamental truth: families view their children’s thinking skills as a top priority, regardless of the economic climate. With more than 100,000 pages of proprietary learning materials already developed, this history of growth signals to prospective partners that the brand is not entering Canada with an untested idea, but with a substantial, “stress-tested” operational model.

The “Concept-First” Advantage: Evolving with the Student from K-12

The MathConcept model is designed to be a constant in a child’s life. Because our method supports learners from Kindergarten all the way through Grade 12, families find a consistent partner they can rely on for over a decade of their child’s development. This long-term relationship ensures that as a child grows, their learning environment evolves with them, providing a stable foundation through every school milestone.

  • Bridging the Gaps: We help students find their footing by identifying and strengthening the specific areas where they may have lost confidence, helping them feel empowered in their daily schoolwork.
  • Removing the Ceiling: For students ready to move faster than their current school year allows, we provide the space and resources to explore advanced logic and complex problem-solving without limits.
  • Competitive Excellence: We celebrate student achievement through our annual MathConceptition, a global event that recently hosted a record-breaking 10,000+ participants. This platform allows students to measure their progress and connect  with a community of thinkers from other cities and regions.
Over 10,000 candidates from Hong Kong, Macau, China, and overseas participated in our most recent annual competition, highlighting the global scale and standard of the MathConcept community.

Strategic Expansion in the Canadian Market

MathConcept is now seeking passionate partners to be part of our expansion across Canada. To ensure the success of our Canadian centers, we have localized our proven systems for the North American landscape:

  • Localized Curriculum Development:
We develop courseware that maintains strict alignment with local Canadian school frameworks. This includes adapting practical elements, such as local currency, to ensure students build a strong, real-world “money sense” and numerical intuition relevant to their daily lives.
  • Operational Flexibility & The 1:6 Ratio:
While we maintain a maximum 1:6 tutor-to-student ratio for premium care, we offer our directors the flexibility to specialize. Depending on their professional expertise and community readiness, partners have the freedom to decide their center’s focus—whether that means starting with K-level child education or launching with a focus on Secondary school academic enrichment.
  • Strategic Site Selection:
To support the healthy growth of our network, MathConcept provides dedicated guidance for strategic site selection. We work closely with our partners to identify high-potential locations that align with community needs.
  • Professional Evolution:
For partners who demonstrate exceptional alignment with our mission, the partnership offers more than just business ownership; it provides an environment for long-term professional evolution as the brand establishes its presence across the Canadian landscape.

Leadership Built on the Operator’s Journey

The expansion into Canada is led by our International Division CEO, Stella Sou, whose leadership was forged on the ground rather than in a boardroom. Starting with a single location, Stella scaled her operations into a portfolio of 10 co-owned centers and two distinct sub-brands in Macau.

Having navigated every stage from teaching the first student to overseeing the complexities of a multi-unit network, Stella brings an authentic “in-the-trenches” perspective to our support system. When you partner with MathConcept, you aren’t just receiving a manual; you are gaining a mentor who has personally managed the pressures and milestones of the industry. This level of firsthand experience ensures that as you navigate your own journey in Canada, you have a partner who truly speaks your language.
