A Letter from Stella
To those considering the MathConcept franchise journey

I began my MathConcept journey as a franchise partner in 2016. This letter shares how that decision shaped my work, what I have learned along the way and how those experiences influence the way I support franchise partners today.

Why I Chose MathConcept

In 2016, I left my career in finance and accounting to open the first MathConcept franchise centre in Macau.

It was a significant change for me. I was not simply moving into a new industry. I was taking responsibility for building a team, earning the trust of families and creating a centre that could make a meaningful difference to children.

What attracted me to MathConcept was its belief that children should understand the “why” behind maths, rather than simply memorising methods. I wanted to build a business with a deeper purpose, and education gave me the opportunity to do that.

Like any new franchise partner, I had questions at the beginning. I needed to understand the system, learn how to operate the centre and decide how to turn the opportunity into something meaningful for my local community.

From One Centre to a Wider Education Journey

Since opening that first centre, the MathConcept operation in Macau has grown to nine centres.

Along the way, I also helped establish KidsConcept and MathConcept Secondary Academy in Macau. These brands have allowed us to support children and young people at different stages of their learning journey.

My responsibilities gradually expanded beyond the operation of my own centre. I was appointed CEO of the Macau Region and later CEO of the International Division by MathConcept’s Hong Kong Head Office.

Even with these broader responsibilities, I remain a MathConcept franchise partner. That is important to me because it keeps me connected to the practical realities of operating a centre, leading a team and serving students and families.

I understand the opportunity from both sides: as a franchise partner building a local business and as part of the team supporting the development of the wider franchise network.

What I Have Learned as a Franchise Partner

A franchise system can provide curriculum, training, operating tools and guidance, but the franchise partner still has an important role to play.

You need to lead your team, build relationships with families and take responsibility for the experience delivered in your centre. You also need patience. A strong education business is not built overnight.

There have been challenges throughout my journey, as there are in any business. Each stage has taught me more about leadership, communication and the importance of maintaining consistent standards.

I have also learned the value of having a clear system behind the centre. Curriculum materials, operational processes and ongoing support provide direction, but it is the franchise partner’s leadership that brings the centre to life.

The most rewarding part of the journey has been seeing students become more confident, watching teams develop and knowing that the work we do can have a lasting effect on families.

What I Believe About Franchise Partnerships

I believe a strong franchise partnership should begin with openness and trust.

Before moving forward, both sides should take the time to understand each other’s expectations, responsibilities and goals. A franchise agreement establishes the formal relationship, but the day-to-day partnership depends on communication, shared standards and a willingness to work through challenges together.

At MathConcept, we are looking for partners who believe in the educational purpose of the brand and who are prepared to take an active role in building their centre.

We do not expect every franchise partner to have the same background or experience. What matters is the willingness to learn, lead responsibly and contribute to the community they serve.

“Your success is my success.”

This is not simply a statement about business performance. It reflects how I approach the relationship with our franchise partners. When a partner builds a capable team, supports families well and creates a centre they can be proud of, the whole MathConcept community becomes stronger.

If MathConcept’s purpose and approach resonate with you, I invite you to learn more about the opportunity and share with us what you hope to build in your community.

I look forward to hearing your story.
