In May, Secondary Academy hosted a MathConcept partner training session using an interactive game to explore tutor onboarding, teaching reflection, and educational purpose.

In May, MathConcept’s partner training was hosted by Secondary Academy (Macau Region), who brought a creative and engaging format to the session. This time, the team built an interactive game interface that participants could join by scanning a code, turning the training into a more hands-on and collaborative experience from the start.

Through the game, each team guided a virtual new tutor through different stages of onboarding, including the decisions, challenges, and situations they may face along the way. At each stage, the hosts also brought in educational and psychological ideas to deepen the discussion such as,  Stephen J. Ball’s view of how performance pressure can shape a teacher’s sense of purpose, and Yael Fisher and Shiran Baissberg’s research on the gap between teacher and parent expectations around educational engagement. This gave partners and tutors more insight into the thinking behind their work, while also creating space to reflect on how they interact with students and families in the center each day.

As the session went on, it also encouraged broader reflection on what each learning center is working towards and the purpose of education behind that work. The interactive format helped bring these ideas into a practical setting, making space for discussion, shared understanding, and team learning across the network.

As MathConcept continues to grow across regions, sessions like this remain an important part of how partners and teams stay connected, learn from one another, and keep building a thoughtful and aligned learning community.
